Der Tag hat 48 Stunden – #tolleWurst.

Ich habe mir mal gerade den erklärenden Text von Gefion durchgelesen, der eine sehr gute transparente Darstellung der Ereignisse bezüglich des kleinen Fauxpas in Bezug auf den 18. Januar beziehungsweise dem verspäteten SOPA-Blackout liefert – ich gehe hier gar nicht weiter auf den Inhalt in Bezug auf das Thema SOPA ein, sondern lediglich auf die Protestform.



Besonders gefällt mir die Zeile, in der steht, dass die IT den Termin so nicht gewusst oder verstanden hätte. Leben der Vorstand der Piraten und die IT auf verschiedenen Planeten mit unterschiedlichen Datumsgrenzen und Rotationsgeschwindigkeiten?

Der 18. Januar 2012 begann am 18. Januar 2012 um 0:00h und endete um ca. 23:59h und 59 Sekunden – und das sogar weltweit an allen Orten – nur halt zu anderen Zeiten.

Was die Beschränktheit von Ideen angeht, muß ich sagen, dies als Piraten obendrein noch nicht mal global zu betrachten, sondern nur 'national', zeigt mir, dass man sich gegenseitig langsam aber beständig vom erweiterten Denken hin zu einem eingeschränkten Denken 'weiterzurückentwickelt'.

Im nimmermüden Internet, wo die Ursprünge der Piratenpartei eigentlich mal herkamen, hat der Tag nämlich mehr als 24 Stunden, nimmt man alle 24 Zeitzonen hinzu. So ergibt sich von und bis zur Datumsgrenze eine Tageslänge von 48 Stunden.

Um einem internetweiten Protest Genüge zu tun, hätte aus der Sicht der deutschen Piratenpartei der Blackout bereits am 17. Januar 2012 um 12:00h beginnen KÖNNEN* und man hätte am 19. Januar um 12:00h wieder den Normalzustand wiederhergestellt. So wäre der 18. Januar weltweit wahrgenommen worden. Das Spiel ließe sich auch auf Zeitzonen-Skripte erweitern, wie ich auch immer …

Selbst wenn man das mit der Begründung einer 'zu langen' Protestlaufzeit abgelehnt hätte oder der Argumentation, daß weder auf Tokelau noch auf Amerikanisch-Samoa deutschsprachige Menschen leben würden (was noch zu beweisen wäre ;-) , wäre es ein schöner Spin gewesen, wieder einmal darauf hinzuweisen, dass das Internet gerade nicht in den Grenzen von 1984 liegt.

Was die technische Umsetzung einer solchen Protestform angeht, möchte ich noch gerne auf zwei wohl sehr unbekannte Dienste hinweisen. Ich meine hier nicht die Uhr und den Wecker – aber sowas ähnliches: 'cron' (ich gehe jetzt mal einfach davon aus, dass das Blog der Piraten nicht unter SAP läuft, sondern auf einem Linux-basierten System (was auch noch zu beweisen wäre). Da möchte ich den Verantwortlichen doch gerne noch "Cron vor Dummies" mit auf den Weg geben. Bevor jetzt wieder alle aufschreien, ich hätte das aber mit 'at' gemacht… bitte schön.

*KÖNNEN ist herausgestellt, da viele Piraten dazu neigen, eine absolutistische Diskussionsform heranzuziehen und dabei Möglichkeiten außer Betracht lassen (und nicht könnten).

Kopimismus (Kopimi) als Religion anerkannt.

Letztes Jahr war der erste Antrag noch gescheitert. Jetzt mußte er anerkannt werden. Der Kopimismus (schwedisch kopimi) wurde als Religion anerkannt und geniesst ab sofort entsprechenden Religionschutz.

Nach der österreichischen Anerkennung des Nudelsiebs als rituelle Kopfbedeckung der Pastafari ist dies der meines Erachtens nach exzellenteste politische Hack der Neuzeit.

Klingt alles bekloppt & wie ein Witz? Keineswegs! Denn hinter der Idee steckt folgender Gedanke: der Glaube an das freie Teilen von Information auch Daten genannt findet in der freien Kopie seine Manifestation… und somit seine Glaubensberechtigung.

Und was soll das Ganze? Nun ja … schon mal an .torrent-Server in der Kirche gedacht? :-D

Why we all need Ad hoc-Mode on Google Android phones.

As Android wins against Symbian, Apple & many more like Apple and Palm ... (Mubarak is gone - the net and politics! Now!)

The short & simple question & the answer: The whole world should have mentioned about 1st Tunisia & 2nd Egypt - the 2nd example is the even better one - as everyone was able to see what happens when a country 'becomes' offline. But humanity is not helpless as many netizen (I do miss a british version like 'neticen', btw.) even reestablished old ways of digital & analogue communications from Egypt to the rest of the world: from modem dial-in access points, via facsimile stations and even traditional HAM-based morse-code stations ... from the EU, Telecomix' activists did their citizen-based best to keep information flowing! But back to the problem of missing Ad hoc connectivity on Android devices (the moment technical stuff becomes political ... too late, baby!)

Only with Ad hoc mode everyone is capable to establish a citizen based net - now you may ask yourself, what is Ad hoc networking? There's a nice article at the wikipedia about Ad hoc networking - but this is only one part as you can only connect from one device to another without an acces point (f.ex. WLAN-based-router) ...

Here we go: At the moment there is only a german word like "Angst" (no pun intended) or "Kindergarten" for this iniative called "Freifunk" - article @wikipedia - using a protocoll called OLSRD (Optimised Link State Routing Protocoll) every device can connect and transfer data to every other device using the same protocol - the best translation could be: "multi-hop ad-hoc mesh networks". Nowadays it is not only possible to install the f.ex. OpenWRT-package on many kinds of routers (it has all begun with the WRT-54 by Linksys), but also people can share their 'true' internet connections to a whole subnet of 'Freifunk'-Routers, which enables people that cannot afford it, to at least become a digital user.

One my favourite examples is a short view on Rostocks map of Freifunk Access points (or OpenNet). So this is a citizen based net using ordinary routers (which are flashable to become open Freifunk devices).

Would'nt it be fun to establish Ad hoc networking from mobile device to mobile device via a third mobile device - free - for everyone even on the run?

Dear ppl. at Google: solve this sad and ugly thread No.82 (which has been started in January of 2008?!? WTF?): I know, there are many other ways to build Ad hoc networks (my 2nd fav is on B.A.T.M.A.N.), but without even the possibility to connect to an Ad hoc network on an Android based mobile device, it is all only closed and for the profit and useless for the citizens of every country - so please, for the people, do it for real - and include it into an official build.

The idea behind ... NO! It is not an idea anymore - we are in need of it - NOW!

Many people might have some questions about the political stuff like "net neutrality", "encryption & security", "file sharing", and so on and so forth ... that's not the point ...

... it is all about the possibility to establish a citizen based network vs. the oligopoly of access providers & the content lobby & ... yeah, sure, about the old people using ball-pens which shut down lines at will.

Sound of Spreeblick auf die Ohren - Part 1.

Nachdem die Wahnsinnigen mit dem wassergetrübten Blick die drei 'besten' Songs (jedweder Form) gesucht hatten, liegen nun die Ergebnisse vor.

Zum WarmTaggen, habe ich mal mit den Top-20 angefangen (die jetzt zwangsläufig eine Top-22 darstellen).

Die anderen werde ich wohl mal am Samstag anfangen - vielleicht möchte ja jemand kollaborativ mitmischen (nach Alphabet?)? So Web2.0-mäßig? last.fm-Account wäre natürlich (leider) die Voraussetzung.

Aber zur Sache, Schätzchen. Eine Melodie, eine Musik, ein sperriges 'Sound of Spreeblick - Top 20'-Tag - Rohrfrei.

P.S. Um aus diesen 'personal'-tags offizielle zu machen, müßte nur jemand ein paar der Songs ebenfalls unter genau diese Tag 'Sound of Spreeblick - Top 20' abspeichern, klar, ne?

Strange things are happening around at the Circle K. Right two weeks ago I started a new last.fm-playlist for my personal
festival wishes including many french artists, and now Fréderic of the Spreeblick-team posted a list with six of his personal most influential french tracks.

Before I start a new "I-can't-sing-french-but-do-it-anyway"-tag (it has to include Anthrax and Turbonegro, for sure, maybe Placebo ...), let's put a bee in your bonnets.

Linux anywhere, me Idiot! - Part 2

Yesterday in the evening I thought it might be a good idea to have a full functional linux-driven USB-stick for all 'known' platforms. I think I made a good start.

- Checked my 'put-all-on-the-stick' (still need a name) under the ugly Vista. First startup, the box crashes. Had to disable the sound. Now it works. Made a second startup-batch-script with disabled sound. Network works out-of-the-box (a real surprise btw.). *done*

- I only did a minimal installation of Debian, btw. Now I select the appropriate packages for my needs - a good hint for a start is 'A minimal setup with X' from Debian (gde, fluxbox chosen). I try Iceweasel (the Debian port of Firefox) and secure it with Privoxy, NoScript, AdBlockPlus - for the development, the Web Developer and Exif Viewer. *done*

- Not to forget to harden the system! Securing services, iptables, etc. pp.

- To get access via ssh from the regular host, use '-redir'. I just tried to connect via putty including a local tunnel to Port80. *done*

Linux anywhere, me Idiot! - Part 1

Whilst administration of and programming my noble wife's site, I challenge my PC, the server, my Mac at work, my wife's eMac or a power- or notebook, whatever and wherever ... and always have to change something, test something, upgrade something, you know what I mean ...

Why in the world, did I not yet made an USB-stick containing a mirror of the site? Not only for backup reasons, but also as a start-or-boot-linux-whatever-chip-I-confront-thingy?

NSLU - you have to wait. Here comes the world of qemu for linux, 'Q' for the Mac, sadly Qemu for Microsnoft Windows, Debian for sure and so here I go - anything else I may need I should find at pendrivelinux.

- USB-stick, 2GB, cheapo but it works. *done*

- Grab the Debian-Installer - I use the smallest one, the business-card, the rest comes over the net. *done*

- Download 'Q' for the Mac. *done*
'Q' names the HD-images ".qcow" - I don't know why, but as it seems, I could use any name within Linux and M$W. Installation? Started, HD-Image created (1.5GB should be enough), let's go.

- Install Debian - the ordinary stuff, small, encrypted image, tiny X, apache, MySQL ... oh, Python not to forget. *done*

- While waiting for the Mac, I do switch places - download and install qemu for Windoze (I don't know if it will work with Vixxxa, so I'll try Wbug2K first. Looks like it works, but I do need TAP for the network and there exists an accelerator. All these things and How-To's can be found at the 'QEMU on Windows'-site (check out the 'Documentation' - sounds silly, but it contains all evident hints). Tested using the Debian-installer-image under W2K until an affirmative download has been started. *done*

- Still waiting for the finish of Deb's install. I comment sth worthfully in german at the Handelsblatt. *done*

- "Package Selection" - I know my wife will come home within the next minutes (always the wrong time if you have started a new game ;-), so I think I have to snip it right here. "What?" you may ask. 'Q' for the Mac allows a full 'Session Save' - it rocks. But I have to continue as long as I am alone ... Restart and fulfill ... *done*

- *whew* - the package selection and installation has finished, just in time. So let's try a reboot of the sandbox but not on the mac, I have to try the rest on the PC - it works.


The LUKS passphrase is the encryption key for hda1 (aka the virtual disk .qcow) I defined before.

Ah. My wife is home. Let's try an 'apt-get update', everything fine ... aaaaaaand CUT! *done*
